Basketball Game Preview: Holtville Vikings vs. Mar Vista Mariners

The Holtville Vikings will venture away from home to take on the Mar Vista Mariners at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Holtville is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Warner 52-27 on Friday. The Vikings not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since December 15, 2025 (when they won 44-15).

Mar Vista hadn't beaten Sweetwater on the road since January 18, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Mariners were the clear victors by a 49-28 margin over the Red Devils. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Mariners have posted against the Red Devils since January 18, 2023.

Holtville's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.4 points on average over those games. As for Mar Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.

Holtville beat Mar Vista 40-31 when the teams last played back in February of 2019. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
