Baseball Recap: McIntosh Comes Up Short

After flying high against Langston Hughes last Friday, McIntosh came back down to earth. McIntosh fell 6-3 to the Newnan Cougars on Monday. The Chiefs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.

McIntosh got a good showing from Knox Lofstad, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Lofstad has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jake Lutz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

McIntosh's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Newnan, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

While McIntosh had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
