Basketball Recap: Sutter's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Tuesday

Sutter's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 51-43 victory over the Destiny Christian Academy Lions. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 434th, while the Lions are ranked 890th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Torrence Harter was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 29 points, 16 rebounds, and ten steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 49 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alaina Davis, who posted seven points in addition to 12 boards and six steals.

Sutter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Destiny Christian Academy only pulled down ten offensive boards.

Aaliyah Wilcox and Caitlin McDaniel certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Wilcox went 7 for 16 on her way to 19 points, while McDaniel almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave McDaniel a new career-high in points.

Sutter has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Destiny Christian Academy, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-10.

When Sutter and Destiny Christian Academy next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Sutter will take on Natomas and their five-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Destiny Christian Academy will try to stop Rio Linda's six-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
