Baseball Recap: Northridge Triumphs

Northridge barely beat Plymouth the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Raiders never let the Pilgrims get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Pilgrims: they've now won seven in a row.

Mason Zimmerman tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Northridge is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Hayden Gorball was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Lucas Eash, who earned three runs and two stolen bases.

Northridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Northridge's victory bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Plymouth, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

Northridge will welcome Triton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Plymouth, they will be taking part in a tournament against Tippecanoe Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
