Basketball Recap: Calexico Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Palo Verde Valley came into Thursday's game looking for another win against Calexico, but Ivanna Camarillo wouldn't allow it. The Calexico Bulldogs came out on top against the Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets by a score of 47-39 on Thursday thanks in part to Camarillo, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten steals. She has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Leslie Herrera, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for five straight games.

Palo Verde Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jaslene Crow, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan McCarthy, who scored ten points.

Calexico's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-11. As for Palo Verde Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Calexico has already played their next contest (against University City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Palo Verde Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-38 loss against Coachella Valley on the 17th.
