Preview: Canton Warriors vs. Cowanesque Valley Indians
The Canton Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Cowanesque Valley Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Canton is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
Last Monday, Canton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 36-32 to the Wildcats.
Despite the loss, Canton saw an underclassman step up: Cailyn Van Noy scored 17 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Van Noy has scored all season. Daveian Crowley was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 15 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cowanesque Valley came up short against the Tigers on Wednesday and fell 31-18. Cowanesque Valley has struggled against the Tigers recently, as their match on Wednesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Canton's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Cowanesque Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Canton was able to grind out a solid win over the Indians in their previous meeting back in January, winning 46-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Canton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
