Baseball Recap: Woodward Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

After flying high against Shiloh last Thursday, Woodward Academy came back down to earth. Woodward Academy fell just short of the Dunwoody Wildcats by a score of 6-5 on Monday. The War Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

Harrison Lord was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Keeler Edwards made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Woodward Academy's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 12-1 and their overall record down to 14-2. As for Dunwoody, the win (which was their 18th in a row) raised their record to 18-1.

While Woodward Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
