Softball Recap: Northeast Has No Trouble Against Westside

After low-scoring totals in their previous seven matchup, Northeast brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They put the hurt on the Westside Seminoles with a sharp 17-4 win on Monday. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Seminoles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Kaitlyn Deshazer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nyla Howard was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Indiasia Bell, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Northeast always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Northeast's win bumped their record up to 4-16. As for Westside, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Northeast didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-0 loss against Bleckley County on the 30th. Westside has also already played their next matchup (against Jackson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
