Soccer Game Preview: Mater Dei vs. Los Alamitos

The Mater Dei Monarchs will take on the Los Alamitos Griffins in a tournament on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mater Dei's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against Cypress by a score of 2-0.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Los Alamitos, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Los Osos out 1-0. Given the Griffins' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 202nd), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Los Alamitos' one-goal win came courtesy of Zamorah Malinoski, who's now up to four this season.

Mater Dei's victory bumped their record up to 6-2-2. As for Los Alamitos, their win bumped their record up to 5-1-2.
