Baseball Recap: Cairo Comes Up Short

Cairo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colquitt County Packers. If the Syrupmakers were looking for revenge after losing 17-7 to the Packers when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Cairo's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Colquitt County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-13 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cairo will venture away from home to challenge Thomas County Central at 5:55 p.m. on Friday. As for Colquitt County, they will head out to take on Pike County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Packers surely won't give up without a fight.
