Soccer Game Preview: Carpinteria vs. Fillmore

The Carpinteria Warriors will take on the Fillmore Flashes at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Carpinteria will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Hueneme, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Carpinteria never let Hueneme onto the board and left with a 1-0 win on Friday. The Warriors' winning goal came courtesy of Logan Labistour.

Makenna Tobin, who's played more minutes than anyone else on the Carpinteria squad sat out for Friday's contest. With Tobin sitting this one out, Lacey Zimmerman got some extra time on the pitch (80 vs. her season average of 56.7).

Meanwhile, Fillmore entered their tilt with Santa Paula back in December of 2024 with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victor by a 4-1 margin over the Cardinals. The Flashes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by three goals or more this season.

Fillmore's victory bumped their record up to 4-1-1. As for Carpinteria, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3-2 record this season.

Carpinteria came out on top in a nail-biter against Fillmore in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carpinteria since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
