Football Game Preview: Peru Nighthawks vs. Saranac Lake Red Storm + How To Watch

Peru is 7-2 against Saranac Lake since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Nighthawks will square off against the Red Storm at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Peru's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Peru is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Moriah: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Nighthawks blew the Vikings out of the water with a 41-6 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 20-0.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Peru to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake Frechette, who rushed for 120 yards and two scores on only six carries, and also threw for 164 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing touchdowns Frechette has posted since back in October of 2024. Brody Blaise-Smith was another key rusher, rushing for 111 yards and a pair of TDs on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Peru was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 324 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Peru didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Frechette and Mason Starke.

Meanwhile, Saranac Lake waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 25-14 victory over the Hornets.

Peru's record is now 5-0. As for Saranac Lake, their record now sits at 4-1.

Everything came up roses for Peru against Saranac Lake when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 48-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Nighthawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
