Volleyball Recap: Bettye Davis East Anchorage Takes a Loss

After flying high against Juneau-Douglas on Thursday, Bettye Davis East Anchorage came back down to earth. The Thunderbirds took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Anchorage Wolverines on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their meetings with the Wolverines: they've now lost six in a row.

Evelyn Whitson paced Bettye Davis East Anchorage's offense, picking up 19 kills. Whitson got some help from Meletia Faatillage and her three assists. Finally, Sasha Tuott kept Bettye Davis East Anchorage's defense grounded, leading the team with 18 blocks.

Bettye Davis East Anchorage's defeat dropped their record down to 13-20. As for South Anchorage, the win was the 19th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 29-3.
