Soccer Game Preview: Sanger vs. Torres

The Sanger Apaches will challenge the Torres Toros at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Sanger is headed into the contest having not lost since December 7 and will look to keep things rolling. Their defense stepped up to hand Hanford a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Apaches wouldn't have won without Abby Cano, who scored the game-winner.

Meanwhile, Torres sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Kingsburg on Tuesday. Given the Toros' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Vikings are ranked 659th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sanger's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 35 goals over those seven matchups. As for Torres, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Sanger took their victory against Torres in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 5-1. In that game, Sanger amassed a halftime lead of 3-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
