Wilcox County won the last time they faced Wheeler County and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wilcox County Patriots put the hurt on the Wheeler County Bulldogs with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.

Jake Howell made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Deacon McDuffie, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Talon McKinney also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Wilcox County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Wilcox County pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Wheeler County, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-6 record.

Coming up, Wilcox County will venture away from home to square off against Dublin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wilcox County's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Dublin's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wheeler County, they will challenge Wilcox County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
