Basketball Recap: Shade Comes Up Short

Shade was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 25th straight defeat dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 54-38 to the Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays. The Panthers were probably out for revenge after losing 70-39 to them when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Conemaugh Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Penelope Reininger, who posted 20 points along with five steals and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Reininger a new career-high in points. Gwen Masser was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 16 boards.

Shade's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Conemaugh Valley, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-8.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Shade Panthers take on the North Star Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Conemaugh Valley, they and Ferndale will face off at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
