Recap: Burbank Titans vs. Laguna Creek Cardinals

If the Burbank Titans were feeling good off their 59-15 takedown of the Florin Panthers on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Burbank lost to Laguna Creek on the road by a decisive 55-37 margin on Friday. Burbank lost against Laguna Creek in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 52-5 score last time.

Burbank's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Larayna Osako-Cain, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Aniyah Bufford who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Bufford scored a full 27% of Burbank's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Burbank were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Burbank's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Laguna Creek, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burbank will square off against McClatchy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Laguna Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against River City at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. River City is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
