Maize has gone 9-1 against Haysville Campus recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Colts at 7:00 p.m. Maize is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Maize is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kansas' top teams: Derby, who was ranked 14th at the time (Maize was ranked eighth). The Eagles were the clear victors by a 42-21 margin over the Panthers on Friday. Fans of the Eagles have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
It was another big night for Brayden Myovela, who rushed for 133 yards and three scores while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 151 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Pearce George was another key player, picking up 96 receiving yards and one TD.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Maize was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 242 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Haysville Campus scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 34-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of Maize South. The Colts have struggled against the Mavericks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Maize will have to contain Gericho Moore as he made an impact in Haysville Campus' last game. He rushed for 139 yards, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. Donovan Simmons also helped out with an impressive 90 receiving yards.
Maize's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Haysville Campus, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Maize has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 200.2 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Haysville Campus, though, as they've been averaging only 87 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Maize against Haysville Campus in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 79-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
