Football Recap: Cherokee Comes Up Short on the Road Against River Ridge + How To Watch

Cherokee had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 28-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of the River Ridge Knights on Friday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Despite the defeat, Cherokee saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sawyer Ray rushed for 60 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 135 yards and one TD while completing 87.5% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Brandon Hamilton, who rushed for 110 yards and one score.

Micah Pugh had an outrageously good game for River Ridge as he rushed for 164 yards and one touchdown. Those 164 rushing yards gave Pugh a new career-high.

Cherokee wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 61-0 loss against Sequoyah on the 22nd. As for River Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 17-7 victory against Denmark on the 22nd.
