Baseball Game Preview: Arabia Mountain Rams vs. Chamblee Bulldogs

The Arabia Mountain Rams will square off against the Chamblee Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Arabia Mountain: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Chamblee has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.

On Thursday, Arabia Mountain made easy work of Tri-Cities and carried off a 15-6 victory. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.

Bryce Willingham made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Benjamin Rentz and Landen Wood did most of the damage at the plate: Rentz scored four runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Wood scored three runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave Rentz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alphonso Osborne Jr, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-5.

Arabia Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Chamblee suffered their biggest defeat since February 26th on Thursday. They lost 17-7 to Decatur. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Leo Waasdorp made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Chamblee's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 5-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Sammy Heetderks, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Arabia Mountain's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Chamblee, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Arabia Mountain might still be hurting after the 18-0 defeat they got from Chamblee in their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
