Basketball Recap: Oakmont Comes Up Short

After flying high against Mira Loma last Friday, Oakmont came back down to earth. The Oakmont Vikings lost to the Lincoln Fighting Zebras at home by a 59-43 margin on Wednesday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-47 on January 8th.

Leading Lincoln to victory were TAYLOR HODGE and ISA KEIDEL. HODGE dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 boards, while KEIDEL went 8 of 16 en route to 17 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave HODGE a new career-high in assists (four). TAYLOR BUTLER was another key player, putting up seven points and 11 rebounds.

Oakmont has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-7 record this season. As for Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakmont will square off against Marysville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Marysville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Oakmont likes a good challenge. As for Lincoln, they will take on Mira Loma at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln is facing Mira Loma at the right time seeing as Mira Loma is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
