Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jackson Taylor, who threw for 251 yards and four TDs. Taylor has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. A healthy portion of Taylor's aerial production (100 yards to be exact) went to Hayden Vercher, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.

Simi Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Conner Petrov out in front who rushed for 64 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries, and also threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.1 yards per attempt. Those 64 rushing yards gave Petrov a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Quentin McGahan, who picked up 183 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Having lost for the first time this season, Thousand Oaks fell to 4-1. As for Simi Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thousand Oaks will venture away from home to take on Calabasas at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. After each having a week off, Simi Valley and St. Bonaventure will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The last three games the Seraphs have played have been within three points, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
