Baseball Recap: Clyde-Savannah Triumphs

Clyde-Savannah took a 27-run loss the last time they faced off against Campbell-Savona, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the Panthers on Wednesday.

Jackson Barr made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has become a key player for Clyde-Savannah: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-9 otherwise. Barr was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Barr wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Spencer Bloomer, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Garrett Carr was another, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Clyde-Savannah's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Campbell-Savona, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Coming up, Clyde-Savannah will square off against Genesee Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Golden Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Campbell-Savona does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
