Basketball Game Preview: Lyons Lions vs. Flatirons Academy Bison

Two dominant guards in Caleb Christiansen and Brandon Ewing are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Lyons Lions will challenge the Flatirons Academy Bison at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lyons knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matches -- so hopefully Flatirons Academy likes a good challenge.

Lyons took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Denver Academy 89-51. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Flatirons Academy entered their tilt with Clear Creek on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took down the Golddiggers 49-30. The Bison pushed the score to 43-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Golddiggers cut but never quite recovered from.

Flatirons Academy pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Lyons, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Lyons couldn't quite finish off Flatirons Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2019 and fell 31-29. Can Lyons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
