Softball Recap: Valor Christian Wins Going Away Against Lakewood

Valor Christian won the last time they faced Lakewood and things went their way on Monday too. The Eagles put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 13-1 win. Considering the Eagles have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Elizabeth Canales made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in October of 2024.

In other batting news, Valor Christian got a big performance out of Brooklyn Whidden, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Whidden has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Annie Bieser, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Valor Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Valor Christian and bumps their season record up to 9-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Lakewood, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-4.
