Football Recap: Poland Comes Up Short

The Poland Knights ended up a good deal behind the Winthrop Ramblers on Friday and lost 21-6. The game marked the Knights' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Poland still got an impressive performance from Damon Martin, who rushed for 133 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Martin showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 63 yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Poland and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Winthrop, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.

Looking ahead, Poland will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Freeport at 6:00 p.m. The Falcons will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. As for Winthrop, they are taking a road trip to face off against Mt. Blue at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
