After flying high against the Chula Vista Learning Community Charter Cobras last Thursday, the Monarch Royals came back down to earth. Monarch took a 48-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Coastal Academy on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Monarch in their matchups with Coastal Academy: they've now lost three in a row.

Monarch's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Coastal Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monarch will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against King-Chavez Community at 3:45 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Coastal Academy, they will face off against Guajome Park Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Guajome Park Academy is out to stop a eight-game streak of losses at home.
