Basketball Game Preview: Lighthouse Community Wolves vs. KIPP King Lions

Lighthouse Community is 0-8 against KIPP King since February of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Lighthouse Community Wolves will head out to challenge the KIPP King Lions at 4:30 p.m.

Lighthouse Community is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They took a 36-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of Golden State Prep. One positive for the Wolves, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, after only one point in their last matchup, KIPP King made sure to put some points up on the board against Bay Tech on Wednesday. KIPP King breezed by Bay Tech to the tune of 67-2. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 24 points or more this season.

Lighthouse Community better keep an eye on Jasmine Bertucci. She was instrumental in KIPP King's win, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 18 steals. Those 31 points gave Bertucci a new career-high. Chloe Casale was another key player, going 8 for 18 on her way to 19 points in addition to five assists and five steals.

KIPP King pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 15.7 points per game. As for Lighthouse Community, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Lighthouse Community was taken down by KIPP King 58-11 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lighthouse Community was down 34-7.
