Houston County had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Lee County Trojans a 9-0 shutout. Considering the Bears have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Houston County's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lee County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 18-8.

Looking ahead, Houston County will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Luella at 6:00 p.m. As for Lee County, they will head out on the road to challenge Lowndes at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
