Recap: Arvin Bears vs. Mendota Aztecs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Arvin Bears can now relate to. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 47-27 walloping at the hands of the Aztecs on Wednesday. Arvin's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Loss or not, Arvin got some senior leadership from Roxana Fernandez and Cassandra Torres. Fernandez scored five points along with seven steals, while Torres. scored six points along with five rebounds and two blocks. Fernandez has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rosario Flores, who scored two points along with three steals.

Bethany Oliva continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mendota, scoring 29 points. Another player making a difference was Natalie Membreno, who scored nine points.

Arvin's defeat dropped their record down to 19-11. As for Mendota, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season.

Arvin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mendota's road trip will continue as they head out to face Immanuel at 2:00 p.m. on February 23rd. Immanuel is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
