Preview: Aptos Mariners vs. Scotts Valley Falcons
After three games on the road, Aptos is heading back home. They will take on the Scotts Valley Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Aptos posted their biggest victory since December 27, 2023 on Tuesday. They really took it to Harbor for the full four quarters, racking up a 51-24 victory on the road. The victory was just what Aptos needed coming off of a 52-32 defeat in their prior matchup.
Aptos' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Berkeley Ashby, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Gabby Wickham, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Scotts Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over San Lorenzo Valley on Saturday, taking the game 51-41. The win was just what Scotts Valley needed coming off of a 58-28 loss in their prior matchup.
Aptos' win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Scotts Valley, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-12.
Aptos strolled past Scotts Valley when the teams last played on January 2nd by a score of 54-37. Does Aptos have another victory up their sleeve, or will Scotts Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
