Soccer Game Preview: Downey vs. Mayfair

The Downey Vikings will challenge the Mayfair Monsoons at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Downey's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Saturday. They had just enough and edged La Serna out 1-0.

Meanwhile, Mayfair had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They and Artesia finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Monsoons as the team haven't won a game since December 4, 2024.

With that draw, Mayfair's record moves to 1-8-1. As for Downey, their win bumped their record up to 5-9-2.

Everything went Downey's way against Mayfair in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as Downey made off with a 5-0 victory. Will Downey repeat their success, or does Mayfair have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
