Soccer Game Preview: Thacher vs. Whittier Christian

The Thacher Toads will challenge the Whittier Christian Heralds at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Thacher will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Thacher is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Godinez Fundamental. Given the Toads' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Grizzlies are ranked 343rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Whittier Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand Segerstrom a 1-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Heralds have won by just one goal.

Whittier Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up four goals over those 11 matches. Thacher's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1.
