Baseball Game Preview: Hebron Christian Lions vs. Prince Avenue Christian Wolverines

For the second straight game, Hebron Christian will face off against Prince Avenue Christian. Hebron Christian will face off against Prince Avenue Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Hebron Christian has won three straight at home, while Prince Avenue Christian won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Hebron Christian and Prince Avenue Christian, and Prince Avenue Christian kept the tradition alive. Hebron Christian fell just short of Prince Avenue Christian by a score of 4-2 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lions have suffered since February 17th.

For Prince Avenue Christian's part, Drew Payne tossed a big game, striking out 15 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and not a single walk). Those 15 strikeouts gave Payne a new career-high.

At the plate, Prince Avenue Christian's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Judson Hartwell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Hartwell has posted since back in March.

Prince Avenue Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. Hebron Christian's loss dropped their record down to 14-9.
