Basketball Preview: Delhi Hawks vs. Gustine Reds
Delhi has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Gustine Reds at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Delhi comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last 14 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 57-2, which was the final score in Delhi's tilt against the Warriors on Thursday. Delhi was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 25-2.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Gustine, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-32 loss to the Wildcats on Thursday. Gustine was down 44-13 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Delhi dropped their record down to 0-14 with that loss, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.1 points per game. As for Gustine, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
Delhi was dealt a bruising 46-18 defeat at the hands of the Reds when the teams last played back in January. Can Delhi avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
