Basketball Recap: Alisal Takes a Loss

Alisal and Evergreen Valley squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Alisal had to settle for second. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to the Evergreen Valley Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-41 back in January.

Alisal's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Rivera, who posted ten points. Aileen Gonzalez was another key player, putting up nine points.

Evergreen Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Daven Woodham out in front who put up 13 points. That's the most points Woodham has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Diya Dharmashankar, who had 11 points.

Alisal's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Evergreen Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.

Alisal does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Evergreen Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-37 defeat against Menlo-Atherton on the 27th.
