Basketball Recap: Arleta Mustangs vs. Valencia Vikings
After flying high against Taft two weeks ago, Arleta came back down to earth. The Arleta Mustangs were beaten by the Valencia Vikings 63-36 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Vikings are ranked 78th).
Kamilla Basyrova continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Valencia, going 11 for 21 on her way to 25 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. Basyrova's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cara McKell, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
