California Top 25 high school girls basketball rankings: Four Top 10 teams appear on collision course

Southern Section Open features four teams who all prevailed on Friday night.

While top-ranked La Jolla Country Day can't wait for some steep competition, four ranked teams from the Southern Section Open Division are battling tooth and nail.

In Southern Section Pool A play, second-ranked Mater Dei beat Etiwanda 54-50 on Friday, while then No. 4 Sierra Canyon upended Lynwood 60-53.

In Southern Section Pool B action, No. 5 Windward defeated No. 7 Centennial 67-65 and No. 8 Long Beach Poly upended No. 12 Rosary Academy, 56-42.

Salesian (Richmond) moved from No. 13 to No. 9 after winning the Tri-County Athletic League Rock Division playoff action and now prepares for the North Coast Section playoffs. The Pride are the No. 2 seed in the Open Division.



Top-ranked La Jolla Country Day had just one game last week, a 72-point regular season victory.
