Recap: Del Norte Nighthawks vs. Westview Wolverines
The Del Norte Nighthawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westview. Del Norte was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Westview apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Del Norte's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bailey Barnhard, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Barnhard has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayali Mathias, who scored 17 points.
Westview was led to victory by Sydney Heyn and Sarah Heyn. Heyn scored 18 points along with five rebounds, while Heyn dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists. Heyn is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maren Zimmer, who scored nine points.
Del Norte has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-9 record this season. As for Westview, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-10.
Del Norte does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Westview also has no future games currently scheduled.
