Basketball Game Preview: Bonita Bearcats vs. Ayala Bulldogs

Bonita has gone 10-0 against Ayala recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bonita Bearcats will venture away from home to square off against the Ayala Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Bonita is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season.

Ayala will be up against a hot Bonita squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Bonita was the clear victor by a 45-25 margin over Glendora on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Bearcats have posted against the Tartans since January 28, 2022.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bonita to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayden Uballe, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 10 points and six rebounds. Those six boards gave Uballe a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lexi Mercado, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Bonita smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Ayala lost to Claremont on the road by a 50-36 margin on Thursday. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Wolfpack recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Bonita's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Ayala, their loss dropped their record down to 11-16.

Bonita strolled past Ayala in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 46-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bonita since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
