Stratford was the 44-38 winner over Kingwood when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Spartans lost 34-14 to the Mustangs on Thursday. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-7.

Stratford lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Gavin Guzman, who threw for 170 yards and two touchdowns. A healthy portion of that aerial production (84 yards to be exact) went to TJ Robinson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

A big part of Kingwood's victory came down to the chemistry between Landon Hinson and his top target Kye Wehby. Hinson threw for 404 yards and three TDs while Wehby gained 178 total yards and two touchdowns. Those 404 passing yards gave Hinson a new career-high.

Stratford is on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3. As for Kingwood, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
