Recap: McConnellsburg Spartans vs. North Star Cougars
The McConnellsburg Spartans were the 64-59 winner over the North Star Cougars when they last played one another back in February of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. McConnellsburg took a 37-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Star. McConnellsburg has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Abby Barnick was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds and four steals for North Star. The matchup was Barnick's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Emily Johnston was another key contributor, scoring six points.
McConnellsburg bumped their record down to 1-3 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.0 points per game. As for North Star, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-6.
McConnellsburg's road trip will continue as they head out to face Williamsburg at 7:15 p.m. on December 20th. North Star will be home for the holidays to greet Windber at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
