Volleyball Recap: Union Yellowjackets vs. Northwest Rankin Cougars

After flying high against St. Andrew's Episcopal on Tuesday, Union came back down to earth. The Yellowjackets lost 3-0 to the Northwest Rankin Cougars on Thursday. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Yellowjackets haven't been shut out since back in August.

Union was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-17, 25-15.

Destiny Moulds paced Union's offense, picking up ten kills. Moulds got some help from Abigail Cleveland and her 21 assists.

Northwest Rankin was led to victory by Sophie Tatum and Sadie Tatum. Sophie had 14 digs and three aces, while Sadie had 18 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Sadie has posted since back in August.

Union has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 27-11 record this season. As for Northwest Rankin, their victory ended a three-match drought at home and bumped them up to 15-14.

Union wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Jefferson Davis County on the 4th. As for Northwest Rankin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Gulfport on the 7th.
