Baseball Recap: Dixon Comes Up Short

If Dixon was riding high fresh off their 16-6 takedown of Oregon on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dukes And Duchesses lost 14-4 to the Alleman Pioneers on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Dukes And Duchesses have suffered since April 6th.

Gage Helfrich was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Eli Kirchhoff was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Dixon's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Alleman, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dixon will challenge Oregon at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.62 runs per game on average), something the Dukes And Duchesses will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Alleman, they will square off against Rock Island at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
