Basketball Game Preview: Design Tech Dragons vs. The Nueva School Mavericks

The Design Tech Dragons will face off against The Nueva School Mavericks at 7:20 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Design Tech didn't have too much trouble with University Prep Academy as they won 46-30. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dragons.

Design Tech's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jewel Wilson, who posted 17 points, and Vanessa Chow, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Design Tech is 7-1 when Chow posts eight or more boards, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Rotem Haimovich, who had four points and 11 rebounds.

Design Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask The Nueva School). They took down Basis Independent Silicon Valley 57-38 on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Mavericks as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

The Nueva School's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12. As for Design Tech, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.

Design Tech took their victory against The Nueva School when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 48-24. Will Design Tech repeat their success, or does The Nueva School have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
