Basketball Recap: Victor Valley Takes a Loss

If Victor Valley was riding high fresh off their 38-16 takedown of Sultana on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Victor Valley Jackrabbits lost 49-28 to the Twentynine Palms Wildcats on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Jackrabbits can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 807th, while the Wildcats are ranked 185th).

When it comes to explaining why Victor Valley lost, don't look at Eris Roberts. Despite the final result, she posted 11 points and four steals. That was a full 39.3% of Victor Valley's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Allany Quintanilla, who had a point and three steals.

Victor Valley's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-6. As for Twentynine Palms, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.

Victor Valley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bloomington at 5:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025. As for Twentynine Palms, they will host Desert Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Desert Christian Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Twentynine Palms surely won't give up without a fight.
