Basketball Recap: Bekah Brinser Key Part of a Team Effort in Wildcats Win

Greenwood's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Juniata on Friday. The Greenwood Wildcats were the clear victor by a 45-20 margin over the East Juniata Tigers. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 25 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greenwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bekah Brinser, who posted six points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. Brinser has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Danica Zurenko was another key player, going 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Greenwood's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.7 points per game. As for East Juniata, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenwood will square off against Newport at 7:20 p.m. on Monday. As for East Juniata, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the East Juniata Tigers challenge the Mifflinburg Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
