Soccer Game Preview: Mira Mesa vs. Kearny

The Mira Mesa Marauders will head out to challenge the Kearny Komets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mira Mesa has six straight wins, Kearny has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Mira Mesa's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Christian with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Marauders' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last six contests.

Meanwhile, Kearny came up short against Madison on Wednesday and fell 3-1.

Mira Mesa pushed their record up to 12-1-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Kearny, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10-2.

Everything went Mira Mesa's way against Kearny in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Mira Mesa made off with a 5-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mira Mesa since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
