Softball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Bowdon's Winning Streak

Bowdon dropped down to 13-12 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 4-1 to the Villa Rica Wildcats. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Red Devils couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Villa Rica, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For Villa Rica's part, Helaina Magistro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Magistro has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lyric Oliver-Poole was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aila Kent, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Coincidentally, Bowdon and Villa Rica will both be playing Bremen the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will host the Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Red Devils will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
