Big North (9 Man) recap October 8, 2013

Ely added to the longest winning streak in Big North (9 Man) this week by beating Chisholm, 49-32. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.

Cherry and Littlefork-Big Falls played the most contested game in the league this week, with Cherry eventually emerging with a 20-14 victory.

South Ridge's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kody Karppinen threw for 306 and 5 touchdowns and Drew Janke had 175 yards receiving. On the ground Bill Redding contributed 64 yards. Dom Janke helped South Ridge's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 70 yards.

He was 25-40 with 0 interceptions.

Redding was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Panthers bested North Woods. He nabbed 1 interception.

Redding was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 64 yards on 7 carries as South Ridge topped the grizzlies. Lane Maranell also contributed to the rushing game with 44 yards on the ground.

South Ridge's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Karppinen has thrown for 1,382 yards and 23 touchdowns this season, while Janke has 52 catches for 771 yards.

The most important game in Big North (9 Man) this week will be the match up between Mountain Iron-Buhl and Tom Spaniol's team. The Rangers enters the contest ranked 20th in the state, while the Panthers ranks 15th.

South Ridge took down North Woods 54-22 last week, the largest margin of any game. Karppinen ran for 20 yards during the win.
